Opal Healthcare, Mornington Bay Care Community, at 185 Racecourse Road, Mt Martha. I am reviewing Mornington Bay Care Community as if I were informing my very own loved ones. Truthfully, honestly, and through the benefit of my experience. Experience that goes beyond the glossy pamphlets and flashy website. While I was employed by Opal’s Mornington Bay Care Community, I saw some very distressing things. Not distressing in a ‘part of the job’ way. But distressing in the way certain incidents were handled, documented, and conveyed to the families. Needless to say, I personally, would never ever, admit or leave anyone I cared about in Mornington Bay Care Community. I would not even send someone I had ill-will towards, there. Management would have you believe that this genuine, honest, and truthful review comes from a ‘disgruntled’ ex-employee. In reality, it comes from an ex-employee free from the shackles of being afraid to lose their job over expressing themselves freely and honestly. Do not take my word for it. Google ‘Opal Aged Care boss Gary Barnier’. Look into it. Read the many stories. Again, they will have you believe that things have changed since then. In my opinion, and through my experience, things have actually gotten worse. What I say, and what I write is from the heart and from experience. I personally would never ever trust a loved one in the care of this facility. I definitely would never ever trust Mornington Bay Care Community’s ability to truthfully, factually, and comprehensively share precise details of my loved one’s time in the facility. Including incidents of concern. And specifically the exact circumstances surrounding those particular incidents. Take initiative, and do your due diligence in really looking into any facility you decide in trusting your loved one with. It could be the best or worst decision of your life. I only say this because I have experienced it myself. I have seen it with my own eyes. Mornington Bay Care Community falls well short in their ‘accountability’ and ‘transparency’ practice. Please let me be clear about my assessment and my review. If you are looking for a facility that provides entertainment, friendly staff, a serviced room, and basic services like getting a bed made up or assisting with showering and/or feeding, then this facility will provide for that. But, if you are looking for a facility with exceptional management and nursing skills, I would suggest you look somewhere else. If you are looking for a facility that is transparent and honest in informing you of incidents of concern involving your loved one, then from experience, I would suggest you steer well away from Mornington Bay Care Community. Lastly, please consider this. The facility will undoubtedly come up with professionally constructed words to dismiss and dispel my genuine review. They will undoubtedly use the ‘aggrieved’ and/or ‘ex’ employee line. Or any other similar argument. Do your own research. This review is simply a guide. Look into the history of Opal Healthcare yourself. In particular, how residents and families were treated. Google ‘maggots’ ‘mouth’ ‘Opal’. In my opinion and in the opinion of many employees at Mornington Bay Care Community, nothing much has changed. Be careful, be aware and please be fully informed. NOTE : This review is Evidence based. No matter how hard Opal Healthcare tries to discredit it, and my character. Smearing my name says far more about this facility than I can. My Mum has just spent two weeks in respite. The care was amazing it was clean and the meals were great. Mum said she was made feel very special and would love to go back I would recommend Mornington Bay to anyone looking for care
