Construction begins on Applecross Shore Care Community
1st September 2020 | 4 minsWe are delighted to have celebrated a major milestone with our community partners in Perth, with the turning of the first sod marking the start of construction of our newest residential aged care home, Applecross Shore Care Community.
Applecross Shore is being built on the site of our former Opal care home in Applecross, where we have been part of the local community for many years. Applecross Shore will provide high quality residential aged care services to the south Perth community, alongside our existing homes in Melville, Murdoch, Alfred Cove and the brand new, state-of-the-art Treeby Parklands Care Community.
The sod was turned by Member for Bateman, Mr Dean Nalder, MLA, who described how our new home will provide much needed aged care services to the local community, with over 20 percent of the local population aged 65+, as well as welcome local employment opportunities.
Our Applecross Shore team will build on our long held relationships with the local community and support our residents to maintain connections with the people who matter to them; their friends and family, our team, and the wider community.
Designed to enable a lifestyle to suit each individual, our home will feature generous indoor and outdoor living spaces, beautiful landscaped gardens and innovations in technology to support the safety and security of our residents. Applecross Shore will offer a choice of 136 single and companion residential places, all with ensuites. Inside there will be a central social hub with a café, dining areas, entertainment lounge with a grand piano, a day spa and hair salon, and a dedicated memory support neighbourhood for people who are living with dementia. It will also have a Wellness Centre specialising in individual reablement and restorative care programs for both residents and members of the community.
Applecross Shore is located approximately 10 kilometres south of the Perth city centre and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
