Welcome to Murdoch Gardens Care Community

Murdoch Gardens Care Community is located in a peaceful neighbourhood adjacent to Murdoch University with a retirement village next door. Our Care Community is just 20 minutes south of the Perth CBD and is a spacious and elegant home with flourishing gardens. We have a warm, family-oriented atmosphere and encourage residents to stay connected with the local community.

Care at Murdoch Gardens

We offer a relaxing environment with the compassionate and personalised care of 24/7 registered nurses. Our experienced leadership work alongside a capable and confident team to offer residential aged care, palliative care, dementia care and respite care. Allied health professionals also visit regularly. Our memory care neighbourhood provides an environment custom-designed to support the individual needs of residents who are living with dementia. Our state-of-the-art wellness centre enables residents to benefit from a holistic approach to wellbeing, rehabilitation and restorative care in a welcoming environment. We recognise that understanding the big and the little details about how you like to live each day is important to us – so that we can help you feel at home, have the right support and live your best life in our care.

Daily living at Murdoch Gardens

Our residents enjoy staying active and participating in community life. Our theatrette is popular for movie afternoons and our theatre nights are an opportunity to take to the stage or sit back and enjoy the entertainment. We’re a pet-friendly Care Community and welcome visits from animals large and small. Our resident gardeners tend to our flower beds and keep our plants looking beautiful.

It’s an environment where you’re free to enjoy your interests, independently or with others, continue to learn and try new things, and participate in Murdoch Gardens life – so you can enjoy your day, your way.

My stepfather was in Murdoch for respite. I found the staff to be helpful and considerate. The environment is lovely and the quality of food of a high standard. In fact we were able to order from the residents menu so that we could enjoy lunch with my stepfather in the cafe. Overall a positive experience.

We are so happy with the care our beautiful Mother is receiving at Murdoch Gardens. At 97 years of age and after living alone for many years the transition to care was distressing for us all. Maxine and the staff have made Mum very welcome from the beautiful meals to regular exercise classes and a great weekly calendar of activities. We are so grateful.

Another year dawns and like so many others I have a loved and loving Mum in care. I am at peace though now with my decision to place Mum at Murdoch Gardens. After a rocky start, I can now say a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at Murdoch Gardens! This past year has seen Murdoch Gardens develop under the watchful eye of Amanda and I have seen many advancements in the standard of care and the attention to detail. Not only has Amanda ensured that the Team is supported in ensuring that the respect and dignity of the clients is recognised, she has elevated the level of clinical standards while promoting an environment that is the right mix of joy, laughter, compassion and companionship. All the best for 2025 to a truly professional, dedicated and caring team!

Just had an amazing Christmas buffet 🎄lunch shared Gascoyne staff & residents. All The staff in attendance were absolutely fabulous , attentive to both carers and their loved one’s 🥰 Nothing was too much trouble . The food was 5 star ⭐️ and the entertainment brilliant , the young lady had a sensational voice sang lots of golden oldies . Everyone throughly enjoyed themselves , sing and dancing and waving the arms from the wheelchairs. A superb job Murdoch staff a real treat and pleasure to attend 🎅🏻⭐️ The Christmas present of a framed photo of my father in law with Santa was kind , thoughtful and precious 🙏

Mum and Dad moved into Murdoch Gardens in September and feel right at home. The staff are friendly, caring and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas party with them, the food prepared by the Chef was top quality and we enjoyed mixing with other residents and family members. The staff all worked together to include everyone and were a part of fun themselves. There is a great atmosphere at Murdoch Gardens!

My grandmother, aged 94, has been in care at Opal Murdoch Gardens Care Community for over 2 years and it has only been this year that we have seen a big improvement in the care of residents, and the friendliness and interest of the management and staff. The surroundings are beautiful, but it is her care and safety that is most important. She seems happy here, and we are much happier and more confident now.

Today I attended the Christmas party with my 95 year old Mum. The effort made by staff to give the residents a fantastic experience was exceptional. Everything was really lovely, including the table settings; entertainment; the menu and the quality of food. Most importantly the staff worked as a team, prioritising the residents experience and genuinely seemed to care about them all. This event was a reflection of the constantly improving standard of communication, activities and team work we have witnessed throughout 2024 at Murdoch Gardens.

I have just come home from the most wonderful residents' and families' Christmas lunch at Opal Murdoch Gardens Care Community. The genuine care and interest that has gone into organising this huge event is a credit to management and staff. The food would rival some of the best restaurants in Perth, the decorations were beautiful and the atmosphere so festive and joyous. Amanda (the GM) has made huge changes and improvements in the 12 months she has been at Opal Murdoch and the level of care, communication, team work and inclusion of families in the care of their loved ones have improved enormously. I am very happy to have my 94 year old mother with dementia being cared for by Opal Murdoch.

My husband has been in the Care Community for nearly 6 years, during this time we have seen many changes and lots of new faces. In the last 12 months the new leadership team have come together and are providing the best experience we have had so far. We have had a number of General Mangers but our current manager has brought the team together, made great steps in improving culture and creating a family environment. Though we have all had challenges here, Murdoch Gardens is a great place and we are so happy with our experience. My family and I just want to say thank you to Amanda, Caroline and the Murdoch team.

Our first visit was very impressive. The consultant was very informative and reassuring. However, after 24 hours on admission of the family member we were told to take him away. A major emotional and financial disruption. The consultant is clearly not up to the job. It was disgraceful.

We always prioritise the best care and safety that we can provide to all our residents. Unfortunately, we didn't have any beds available in our Memory Care Neighbourhood to transfer your family member. Hence, we recommended and assisted to transfer the family member into one of our nearby Care Communities that has an availability in their Memory Care Neighbourhood.
