Wallarah Point Care Community in Toukley welcomes first residents
18th November 2020 | 6 minsOn Monday we opened our doors at Wallarah Point Care Community in New South Wales to our first residents. Our new home is in a stunning location in Toukley, capturing sweeping views of the lakes and nearby beaches.
Wallarah Point Care Community provides a safe and secure environment and the building design incorporates accessible living spaces that are easy to navigate, including state-of-the-art security technology to give our residents and their loved ones peace of mind.
Our care is focused on our residents’ individual needs and preferences and our team of dedicated and compassionate registered nurses and carers are on-site 24 hours a day.
We believe everyone should have something to look forward to every day. We support a lifestyle where residents can enjoy their hobbies and interests, learn and experience new things, and participate in meaningful activities.
Mrs. Rose Fethers is one of our first residents to call Wallarah Point home. Matching her name ‘Rose’, Mrs. Fethers was born with a love for flowers and followed her passion to become a florist from the age of 15.
“I’m so happy to move into Wallarah Point and I can’t believe they have a flower market here!! I’ve loved flowers ever since I was a young girl and on my first day here, I had a wonderful time making a beautiful arrangement,” said Mrs. Fethers. As a competitive bowler, playing in state and national competitions, Rose will be supported to continue her active life and interests.
We believe staying connected to our local community is essential to providing the best care for our residents which is why we are looking forward to growing our connections in the area. Our aim is for our residents to participate in community life and maintain meaningful relationships with family and loved ones.
Using the freshest ingredients, our in-home chef prepares meals from scratch and creates seasonal menus with input from residents so they can enjoy the food they like to eat. Our gardens and shaded courtyards provide ample space for outdoor activities, with sensory gardens and raised vegetable garden beds. Our expansive alfresco dining areas also take full advantage of our amazing outdoor areas and views.
Our thoughtfully designed care community has 123 residential places, all with ensuites, and each with water and district views. Communal spaces have been designed to promote connection between residents and feature a sewing room and a snooker room. We have a Memory Care Neighbourhood with a dedicated environment filled with cues and memory supports that enable people living with dementia to live with meaning and purpose in our care.
We also have our ‘Lakes Café’, offering barista-style coffee, and delicious meals and snacks, which will become a popular destination for our care home and the local community. Our home also has a hairdressing and beauty salon on-site so residents can look and feel their best.
