Iains Story- Kawana Waters Wellness Centre
11th August 2022 | 4 minsWhen Iain moved into Kawana Waters Care Community two years ago, he was restricted to a wheel chair and was not able to mobilise on his own. Iain decided to join our in-house Wellness Centre with the goal of increasing his independence by being able to walk again.
The focus of our Wellness Centres is reablement and restorative care - helping individuals to achieve their goals, for example; increasing mobility, improving strength and balance, working on fine motor skills, recovering from health conditions such as stroke, or simply staying active.
At Kawana Waters Care Community, we partner with our allied health provider HCA in the wellness centre, whose qualified physiotherapists and other specialist clinicians design individual programs for residents to achieve their goals. The journey is different for each individual, so the physiotherapists orientate their therapy around this.
Iain’s therapy is primarily functional to achieve his goal of visiting his daughter for lunch at her home, which involves going up and down a set of stairs. Through personalised one-on-one sessions and the support of his Care Community team, Iain is well on the way to achieve his goal. Watch the video to follow Iain’s journey.
