Opal HealthCare commits to aged care worker pay increase
17th April 2023 | 2 minsOpal HealthCare is committed to a 15 percent increase to award rates for its aged care team who provide direct care to residents from 1 July 2023 with the support of the federal government. This increase will support its aged care workers across Australia to continue to deliver safe and high-quality care for older people.
The pay increase is a result of the work value case put before the Fair Work Commission.
Opal HealthCare CEO, Rachel Argaman (Herman) welcomed the pay rise.
"We know that companies don’t succeed, people do. It’s people who deliver care to people, and that’s why it’s important that we are able to recognise and reward our team for the work they do - caring for those who are among the most vulnerable people in society," Ms Argaman said.
From 1 July, the federal government will make the biggest single investment ever in aged care staff, providing billions of dollars in fully funding Award rate increases. As a caring and responsible provider, Opal HealthCare pledges to use every dollar the government gives to us for increasing staff pay, leave entitlements, super and employment costs.
Opal HealthCare is among many aged care providers who have committed to pass on the funding to the pay increase for their staff, including, Catholic Health Australia, Estia Health, Anglicare Australia, Baptist Care Australia, and HammondCare.
"Our team are dedicated to providing high-quality care and supporting our residents to live with purpose and connection, and this recognises the positive impact they make each and every day," said Ms Argaman.
